Cooky – The Ingredient-Based Recipe App
Cooky is an ingredient-based recipe app designed to simplify home cooking by allowing users to discover recipes based on the ingredients they already have at home. The app targets young adults in Switzerland and responds to modern lifestyle challenges such as time constraints, dietary needs, food waste, and a desire for more conscious cooking habits.
Client Personal Project
Role UX/UI Designer, Marketing Strategist
In response to shifting cooking habits among young adults in Switzerland, I developed Cooky as a solution to motivate and inspire my target audience for home cooking based on ingredients they already have. Over the course of validating the concept and user research, I focused on enabling quick, smart, and sustainable meal planning – particularly for two core user groups: young professionals and students.
During the discovery phase, I identified key barriers to cooking at home: lack of time, dietary restrictions, and lack of confidence in cooking skills. Cooky directly addresses these pain points through features designed to alleviate these blockades: fast recipe searches, pantry tracker, an AR food scanner, and step-by-step guidance for recipes. Additionally, I added a personalized diet profile and a digital cookbook that evolves with the user. With these tools, users can save time, reduce waste, and discover recipes that fit their lifestyle.
To build trust and engagement, the app also introduces community features where users can share recipes and get inspired by others. The project is paused in its conceptual phase, but gathered strong validation from user interviews and audiences that I pitched to.
